I was bitten by the bug late in life and so I had to copensate for my late bloom. I currently own 14 kilts.and will be adding more as time goes by.
All the kilts I own are hand made. Be they tartan or solid color. My Grandmother has taught me to hand sew kilts and I currently own three made by her and the rest are made by myself and Locharron. I don't think there is such a thing as too many kilts.

My first arrives today, and i am already saving for another, i am thinking a traditional, in either Army tartan, or Campbell, as thats my family's clan.
Probably going to be an swk, their prices seem most reasonable.

    Raven,

Welcome to the rabble. Wher in NE Ohio are you. My family hails from Youngstown. I've visited there three times since I've been kilted full time and haven't seen any other kilties. In fact, I'll be there April 8, 9 and 10th.

I know EXACTLY what I am jonesing for. A kilt in the Texas Bluebonnet tartan.

In fact my sister is already working on a custom kilt pin for the kilt and I am contemplating an attempt at a custom sporran as well.

Here is a pic of the HFD Pipes and Drum kitted out in the tartan:

Common sense tells me that 15 kilts are already more than enough and I can only wear one at a time, so the more kilts I buy the more time they will spend hanging in a row unseen in the wardrobe while I'm wearing one of my other kilts. Yet I continue to crave new kilts; maybe one from a kiltmaker I haven't already bought one from; perhaps another distinctive tartan - already on this thread I have viewed really nice Glencairn and Texas Bluebonnet tartans!

    . . .
    That's on my list, also.

Most of the ones I've seen in person have the lighter blue as a much softer light blue, rather than the turquoise which shows up in this picture on my monitor . . . a very nice tartan!

Well acquainted with the Jones family... I HATE that they moved into my neighborhood, incidentally! (They're a pain when they come to visit, and they SERIOUSLY overstay their welcome, but they do tend to leave such nice stuff when they finally depart!)

That is a clever saying! I am going to have to remember that for the two kilts I am waiting for....
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

The stinker is that I don't know WHAT I want. I mean, I want time to finish up the last skirt for TimC's girlfriend....the F-H.C.A.G will get hers tomorrow night, as well girlfriend Jamie and the loveable Lora. I want time to make a digicamo X-Kilt for Panache, and one for myself. I want time to make Kathy, the guitarist in my little band, a nice Lindsay pleated skirt that she can wear to our gigs. I want time to finish that Grey Stewart kilt that I"ve started. I know that sooner or later, all of those things will get done.

But that's not what I'm actually talking about. I just **want a new kilt** but I don't know what I want.

I want a kilt in a tartan that I have a connection with.

The Edzell tartan, becasue my Dad was a navy man for 22 years? Well, yeah, kind of, but *I* wasn't in the Navy, as much as I wanted to be when I was in High School.

The Ulster modern tartan? I like it and all of my Scottish ancestors emigrated from Ulster, but I already have a vibrant red kilt.

One of my Scottish Ancestors is a Bryson, which is a sept of the MacFarlanes, so it's tempting to get a Hunting MacFarlane, but that just doesn't *grab* me, somehow.

The Halls, a borders family have a tartan, and it's available here on the West Coast, but while I'm interested in that side of the family, I simply don't like the tartan.

I am somewhat intrigued about the idea of a "Hunting MacNaughton" which doesn't currently exist, but *COULD* exist if I had the time and energy to get half a dozen potential buyers on board.....seeing at the former owners of House of Edgar are MacNaughtons!

But even that isn't what I'm jonesing for. I want INSTANT GRATIFICATION.

    Hmmm.... *grumble*

    So now ...

So I went looking for the Land of Enchantment (now that certain people have moved out, it's an ok state again in my book) and found same. Not bad but the place I found it has a whole bunch of tartans .... great ....

What I want ... (versus what I need), ok Mr.H stop it, now you're making me think and I ain't got time for that neither !
