Someone here has an avatar to that effect, though I can't think of who off hand.
Katmills? Katsmills? Katsmill? Something like that?

Wow! Thanks so much! I knew there were several; I didn't realize there were many!

Yes, Sportkilt appear to use one of the hunting ones. I can't find her scarf's one there, actually. Hmm. I'll be seeing her father tomorrow, too, so we might talk about it then.

I'm glad your mom sat well with you in the kilt. I,too, showed up at Mother's house unannounced in a kilt for the first time last Sunday. My mother loved it. Unfortunately, my father passed away right before Christmas this past year and never got to see my kilt. He was very proud of our history and of me for persuing it. Oh well, maybe he still can see me anyway. I'm sure he would like it.

That is indeed a much better reaction than you first received. I think you should hold off on the camo kilt for a while, at least until your Mother is more comfortable with the kilt and I think there is still a need for your Mother to adjust. I think she may still have certain questions, yet unanswered, regarding other clothing choices. This may be the biggest stumbling block. As Unkaholic has suggested research the tartan, research the kilt, educate those that don't quite understand what a kilt is.

    Gotta slow down.

I wore the MacGregor SportKilt all of Saturday - did my washing, went shopping, went out to a friend's birthday party barbeque. All pretty okay. No comments, only a few looks that I saw at the shops, all my friends were fine with it at the barbeque.

But Mum was clear she didn't like it. Perhaps it was that I went casual - t-shirt & joggers. She also thought I was trying to look like a girl. Another discussion a little later showed she really didn't think wearing it casually worked in Australia - Scotland, yes*, but not here in Sydney. It's going to stay in the closet for a little while, and I'm going to see what traditional accessories I can find over the next few months that I can afford (!) to make it a bit more dressed up for when I want to dress it up.

Slowly, slowly... She needs to be receptive to learning more about kilts and kilt-wearing and a confrontational approach isn't going to work right at the moment. I must bide my time.

    Wade.

    * I know, it's not worn all that much even there, to hear tell.
