The Welsh National tartan I think Ozone is referring to is the original one from 1967.

Since the colors of those of the Welsh flag, green, red and white, that is why it can look "Christmassy" to some.
The version pictured is a custom weave using a sage green, which makes it look less Christmassy. House of Edgar stocks it in their Old & Rare range of medium weight cloth in two versions. The modern is a very straightforward green, red and white, and is probably the "Christmassy" version you have seen. They also do a muted version with a lighter shade of green and a purplish red.
