You could have given her the "it wasn't legal once, but thankfully it is again now", but that probably would have confused her more!

Hello madam - a quick word about your choice of clothing...

Is it legal to go out shopping having left one's brain at home ?

Personally, I find it kind of sad that someone so obviously bereft of functioning grey matter is at loose in a supermarket where she can demonstrate her ignorance to innocent passers-by. The whole skirt comment's a bit of a non starter anyway. Are we supposed to believe that there's a huge swath of contemporary society who spend inordinate amounts of time silently ( and frustratedly) admiring skirts as they go about their daily business - but for some reason only find they can unburden their latent skirt fanciing tendencies when they see a kilted man. The stress of containing a lifetime's skirt observation/admiration must be enormous, so I suppose it's a relief to see a chap in a kilt.

I wonder what kind of reaction I'd get if I spent a day sidling up uninvited to unsuspecting lady shoppers down the mall complimenting their jeans and asking if they or their ancestors happened to be wranglers from the deep south ? "Hey lady - love the jeans - two questions. Firstly what do you wear with them and secondly aren't you a bit hot ?

I think you can guess where I'd find myself pretty soon...

Of course, the real question is... Even if somehow it wasn't legal, how many of us would do it anyways?

And then imagine shows like 'Cops'.

"This is occifer Stan... I have a man in a skirt. I repeat A MAN IN A SKIRT! I'm gonna need back up. I'm gonna need SWAT. (spare wranglers action team) Careful boys, this'un is a big'un!

"we need a swat team pronto - and a tartan negotiator ! We think our target's recently given up pants - so he may be hostile if we turn up in our uniform - so everyone - get your cammo kilts on NOW. Approach him gently - tell him that hey, you've been there too and that you hate pants. Get him to put his sporran down gently, and when you've got him - frisk him for any sign of pant wearing activity - you all know the signs, discomfort, conformity, slouched back, lack of originality, wal-mart socks, etc. Go to this guy's apartment and search for a trouser press - if you find that he's hiding any jeans anywhere, and I mean anywhere - in the cupboard, the ironing pile, the utility room or whatever, we'll know that this guy's had enough of pants and might be liable to be normal, contented, friendly and downright decent !

    Go go go ......."

Last weekend in Walmart I had a guy ask "Are you wearing underwear?", I just responded "Why is that any of your business?" My 16 yr old son had to hold in the laughter.
I had already two positive comments by ladies in the store before this man. I think I upset him by my question..........too bad!

I had a similar instance at a gas station a week or so ago. The guy said "I sure hope your wearing underwear!" I responded with, "I hope you are too!"

He nearly fell over from the shock!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

hmm...I've never wondered if it were legal to wear the kilt. I figure since everyone else is wearing on, I will too!

maybe I'll ask the local police about it. I'll bet there is a stupid law on the books somewhere stating males wearing skirt-like garments are to be aprehended...
