			Scout event kilted

My mom recieved the Silver Beaver award at a Scout luncheon (that's an award for volunteers), and I went with her, my Lady, and brother.

My uniform's a bit baggy, I used to be heavier.

And because every Scout knows that a Scouter is never far from coffee

Got several comments at the event, the Scout Executive said it was international Scouting at its best. Got a couple negatives, too, but I don't care. Most were interested and thought it was great.

On the way home at a gas station an old lady told me about her brother who wears kilts. When I went back to the car, there was a carfull of college students getting air in their tires. They started laughing hysterically, but I didn't pay any attention, I didn't know if they were talking about me. But then they back their car right up to me so they could get a good stare, then sped off while one of them yelled "Nice Kilt!". I don't know how it was meant, but at least they got the terminology right
An uair a théid an gobhainn air bhathal 'se is feàrr a bhi réidh ris.(When the smith gets wildly excited, 'tis best to agree with him.)

 Kiltio Ergo Sum.
I Kilt, therefore I am. -McClef

Nick, Congrats to your mother for the Silver Beaver. Not just anyone gets that privilege. If you've read any of my other threads, myself, jackson123, and animalk, are all in a venture crew here in dallas. Our crew specializes in living history. Specifically Texas frontier life in the 1870's. A group of us are the blacksmiths in the group that are also kilt wearers.

Very cool, Nick. As one scouter to another, I think that looks great. We did a merit badge college here recently and a guy I work with that I didn't know was a scouter diid American Cultures and wore his kilt the first day. He and I have been wearing our kilts to work for the last few Tartan Days. YIS
