I dunno how I should classify myself. Not aware of any Scot heritage, but then with such common names as Clark and Smith how can you know ? Does being Presbyterian count ?
Full time at home/work in the forge, and part time out and about in public. We're americans, we do this 'cause we want to, and we can, and it's way more comfortable than pants.

The only Scottish heritage I can claim is pretty far back (my grandfather's grandmother), but it's all I need to hang my claim to wear a kilt on in my own mind, and everyone else who asks can have the real reason: it's just more fun than pants!

Hmmm. Grant I may just have to come up there and show you how it's really done. Trust me, it really doesnt' hurt for very long when I break your pinky.

I'm mostly a weekend wearer and the only thing Scottish in me was consumed at a whisky tasting last night.
For people who just can't understand me wearing a kilt without an ancestral connection I usually mention that I lived in Scotland, or that my wife's family came from Scotland (or so her father claimed), or that my dog is Scottish (he's a Gordon). But in reality I'd be wearing my kilts even if none of those things was true.
Best regards,
Jake

Non-American, Part-timer w/ Scottish heritage.
Since that's what I intended to select in the poll even though I actually selected the first 'Non-American, part-timer w/o Scottish heritage'.
My mother is of clear scottish descent and has firm views on scottish regalia, even though everyone else who's seen me kilted is largely fine with it. Apparantly, kilts require proper socks, shoes, sporran, shirt... I'll be looking for some not-too-expensive long socks tomorrow to go with my not-very-expensive SportKilt. I'm going to have to do Proper Kilted Casual, including pics to support that, rather than making it up as I go along.
Wade.

When I tip back a bottle of whatever some times I stick my pinky out just to give my self a little class and dignity.
You would be amazed at how civilised one looks tipping back a 64 ounce bottle of Rogue Ale with your pinky out.

I haven't actually taken the poll, given that I don't technically wear kilts, but I definitely am partially Scottish. My grandmother's father is a Nichol, sept of Macleod of Lewis. Therefore, I am a big fan of Loud Macleod (as anyone who spends any time here knows!).
Panache's great grandfather was a Galbraith. Therefore, he wears a Galbraith kilt at times-very pretty. Much more subtle than my choice!

Jake, I didn't know you had a Gordon setter! Sweet (although slightly , umm, shall we say, ditzy?) dogs.
Be well,
