    Well it's here...

Not a new kilt, but my tax return. Woohoo! So, I think after one last discussion with the wife I'll be getting myself an Grant Hunting tank. The local shop makes them for about $895 if I remember correctly. I know, I know. I can get them A LOT cheaper if I buy one online, but I do like to support the local Shoppe(s) if I can and I feel a lot more comfortable having them take my measurements and having someone that I can talk to face-to-face if anything should go wrong.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my good news.

    I'm psyched!

That is good news, my new 16oz Isle of Skye was ordered from my local shop, they were really good to deal with, it's great to order on line, but sometimes it's better to have someone to talk to.

I'd shop around. There must be other brick-and-mortar shops within driving distance. That's outrageous.

The price is a bit steep BUT I do agree with you about being measured in person. With that kind of investment you want NO mistakes.

I understand about wanting to measured in person and all of that. But, for $200 extra dollars?? Personally, I would commission the job to one of our esteemed kilt makers here. (Barb, Rocky, Matt...) It's not like the "Grant hunting" tartan is exactly rare now is it?

Got measured up this morning and paid the deposit. So in about 6-8 weeks I'll have my new Ancient Grant Hunting tank. Psyched!

    It's early!

Well... The wife and I got home from work yesterday and on the answering machine were 5 new messages. My wife had been recently sending out resumes to find a job, so naturally I expected them to be calls to set up interviews and perhaps maybe a message from a family member. Well the first two were indeed, people wanting Chris to go in for interviews (she actually started a new position on Monday), so I figured the rest would also be messages for her.

To my surprise the 3rd message was from the The Highland Scottish Gift Shoppe. My first assumption was that the tartan garter I ordered for my sister for her wedding came in, but no! My 16oz. 8 yard ancient Grant Hunting kilt was in! It was already 4:50pm and they close at 5pm so I wouldn't have been able to make it in time so I figured "tomorrow." Argh!

The 4th message was also from them asking that I call them to let them know when I would be coming in to pick it up because on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday, there were going to be short-staffed and the those experienced in doing the fittings wouldn't be in. They would prefer that I come in when someone with the experience was there, which I totally understand, but Argh!.

So that leaves me Friday afternoon if I can get it off work; shouldn't be a problem. I wasn't really jonesing at all because I knew I would eventually get it. But now that it's arrived and I won't be able to get it until Friday. It's going to be hard to concentrate on anything until then.

I'll be sure to post pictures when I get some taken. Won't be until next week sometime since I'm heading out of town for my cousin's wedding this weekend. Just thought I'd share my excitement.

Well that is really good news. And what is a couple of days additional wait when you've already been waiting for 4 weeks? (LOL, I know, I know!)
