That wouldn't be the photo of the Gordon Chief, the Marquis of Huntly in the coffee-table book Keepers of the Kingdom: the ancient offices of Britain would it? That is a great book, and I reference it frequently.

A while back Sierra Trading Company had some gold hose that came over the knee and make great kilt hose. They were seconds but have been okay. Can't recall the name of the maker, but they are made in South Africa and think the name starts with a B. I spent a lot of time trying to run down a retail outlet in the US and there weren't any. Think they've been offered once since I bought mine.

Here's a pic. The color is pretty true on my monitor.

You can't beat Sierra Trading Post for their prices... but as a close-out and seconds retailer, your selection (and continuing availability) of any given style or color is going to be limited (so grab what you can when you see it!).

STP's customer service just can't be beaten, either. It reminds me of the early days of Lands End before they got so huge.

    Ron,

Those were the Bridgedale Blaxnit socks. I got two pair of the olive and rust on the first go around and two pair of the golden ones recently when they were on sale.
