Brandy thanks for the link it was helpful and thank you to all who have provided info, I will start some searching and let you all know if I find anything of substance.

Guys we can argue all day about the whos, whys, and what fors of the Civil war but theres no need to go back and forth about this subject, it will get us no where. I my self have a strong opinion one way on this subject and could share it to anyone who wants to know, but I feel it must be done on another forum or through PMs for there is an apropriate place for this discussion on the civil war and this is not the place.

Agian I thank all for the info that was givin and if any additional info comes up dealing with kilts and tha civil war I shall let you all know.

I'm not going to get into the politics of the Civil War, sir, because 1). The War ended in 1865 and 2). it's against forum rules. All I will say is this:

The South didn't stop being Americans or part of the USA because they decided to secede.

You may view us as the "enemy", but I view you as fellow countrymen. My in-laws from Louisiana certainly don't view me as "the enemy".

And your comparison of Nothern soldiers, especially immigrants, to soldiers-of-fortune is waaay off-base.

The Battle of New Orleans was in the War of 1812. The Argylls used to send a delegation over on the anniversary of the Battle to lay a wreath at the British monument.

Okay, okay, okay. If you guys want to discuss uniform details, great all the power to you.

However if the discussion is leading to bad feeling and debate about something that ended over 140 years ago than this thread will be locked down very quickly. Consider this a shot across the bow........

Guys I did not intend this thread to become an arguing point on very diffrent views on the Who, What and Why of the civil war. Colin I agree with you, and as the creator of this thread I would respectfuly ask that it be locked.

Guys thank you for all the info I have gotten from you all.
