Yeah, that's what I thought. The first time I saw the building, I was really surprised. Especially the inside...it looks like something from an L Ron Hubbard book. And when I learned how much it cost I was even more surprised [insert "thrifty Scot" joke here].

I was there in early September 2005, whilst the Declaration of Arbroath, the Lubeck Letter and the Ayr Manuscript were displayed there. I wasn't sure if we were walking into a mausoleum or a cellar, what with all the bare concrete and the poor lighting.

OH, my Lord. It's much worse than I expected.
It looks like something from the 1950s in Soviet Russia for tenement housing. Someone should shoot the architect and then shoot whoever hired the architect.

What is it supposed to symbolize? Although we ot be able reproduce the intricacies of gothic arcitecture anymore very few buildings built in the last few decades truly expire. IMHO art deco was the last of the awe inspiring structures. I think now they just seem to go for shock value.
