    Ancestors

Part-time Canadian working toward full-time as I build my wardrobe. (I just finished my first home-made kilt, 8yard, 18oz., Hunting Rose, pleated to alternate stripes, built according to the rules in The Book.

Ancestors: Mum's side; English, Scottish, Irish, German & Swiss in no particular order.
Dad's side; English back to when the Romans left. No other details as he refuses to talk about it. (Mum says this is probably because one of his ancestors was either a highwayman, or hung on Tyburn Tree for stealing a sheep.)

Born & raised in Southern England. (I'm now supposed to say that life is full of strange coincidences as my High School was at the bottom of the hill on which Hamish lives!)

That's very interesting, John. However, I live at the bottom of the hill(s)! Storrington is a downland village nestling at the foot of the northern escarpment of the South Downs, seven miles north of Worthing. Where was your High School?

Hamish, please excuse my ignorance. I thought that Storrington was at the top of the hill rather than the bottom on the inland side. I used to go by train, so never saw that part of the county. To answer your question, Worthing Technicak High School in Durrington.

I've found weak ties up the clan tartans list for Forbes, Buchannan. Morrison, LaMont, Brown and a couple more. No sure ties to actually link across the waters. I suppose the names came from there. But the route down the line in my family heritage could be less sure.
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?
