Kilted at the art show
My Lady and I got dressed up and went to the Senior Show at NMU last night. It's the art show for all the graduating seniors who've been building their portfolio for at least a year. Several of our friends from the art department are graduating and were in the show, all from the Friday night crew, so named because we've been meeting for dinner and drinks nearly every Friday night for over a year, since I took the advanced raising class and met several of them. I wasn't an art major, but I was made an honorary one because of the classes I took and my work.
We took a picture, but it turned out terribly blurred, I forgot to change the focus. I was in my Ancient MacBeth tank, gray french cuff shirt with my great grandpa's silver and mother of pearl cufflinks, dark blue tie, silver tiechain, off-white hose and ghillie brogues. Wren, one of our friends and the usual hostess for Friday night, was quite impressed. She's seen me casually kilted dozens upon dozens of times, but aside from some pictures, never seen me dressed to kilt.
I got a lot of looks, one gentleman in particular was absolutely fascinated by the whole thing, and my monocle. We talked for a bit, and he pulled his wife over to show her. And as I was leaving, and eldery gent stood up from his seat, shook my hand, and said "I'm MacDonald. Are you a Campbell?"
Also, when we were walking into the gallery, a small girl who was playing outside said (in a characteristically little-girl-carrying voice) "Daddy, look, he's wearing a skirt!" It's a classic.
It was a good evening. None of my friends won, though they should have (They're all 3-D, mostly metals, and the department has a marked and well-known bias to 2-D), but it was still nice to see their work displayed and admired.
Cheers,
Nick

It is a strange coincidence that you went to an art show, as I did too tonight. A friend had one, and of course I was in attendance. Wonderful show in photographic technique and I was talking to another friend when the music changed, and what did we do? Dance and dance we did. She says she always enjoys dancing with a guy in a Kilt.
Kilts and art shows go hand in hand.

The next day at a party at the house of one of my graduating friends, who had his work at the art show, I had another guy asking all kinds of questions about the kilt. He was especially curious about the belt buckle.
