I can sympathize with him. I wore the kilt on Sunday afternoon after church and before going to West Side Story (unkilted, sorry). She wasn't pleased to see me in it, only reminding me that I won't wear it when I'm out with her. I told her I understand and that I thought she would get used to in over time.

I guess she hasn't read Esther or Peter. There is a dividing line between "honoring" and "ruling over", don't you think?

Perhaps. But how about this: You plan to go to some event that she likes. you wear the kilt. If she wants to go with you, fine. But if not, that is fine too. Either way, you go to the event.
