However, I do agree with Mark. I believe that the problem with voluntary kilt-lifting at weddings may be due to the fact that the majority of these people are not full- or part-time kilt-wearers, and are wearing the kilt for one day of their life for the purpose of the wedding, and therefore, do not respect it as a normal manner of dress and instead view it as a costume.

One comes across many such wedding clips on the net and many such people do not see the need to be any different in their choice of underwear to what they would wear under trousered circumstances

But there still remains a major difference between voluntary visual demonstration (questions of taste excluded) and involuntary tactile exploration.

the first time i put on a kilt in front of my wife she immediately looked under it. and she does that every time. god knows why, she is well aware of what's under it, but there ya go.

I was sorely tempted to bring my ham-like right down onto the side of his jaw, however I let discretion be the better part of valour. The Indian Goddess was in the back part of the pub, out of my line of sight, so if I had hit the guy I would have been thrown out of the pub without her knowing what was going on - not a great start to a night out!

The fact that the guy understood immediately that he had seriously stepped out of line was enough to help me keep my head. Had he persisted in being a smart**** I would have asked him to accompany me outside. After all, the kilt is the garment of the warrior and the gentleman.

I have read many posts on this illustriaous forum relating to the subject of "lifting", ....
I asked him why he was so interested in what underwear another man may, or may not, be wearing, and whether he would appreciated it if I pulled his pants down in the middle of the pub to "check" him. He replied that he wouldn't care at all, and that I could check with the bar staff to confirm.......Troy

Question for the ladies following this thread: What has been your experience being lifted? How often do you think women get lifted?

Another thought consistent with some of the earlier postings is a sternly voiced version of: "How often do you put your hands inside a man's pants?" This is all very interesting and probably worthy of discussion for the next 20 years or so. At that time the world may have moved on more firmly into the areas of prosecuting crimes of this nature.
