    Unwanted Birthday present

I just got back from my brother's house, well I was wearing my Isle of Skye, so anyway my brother hands me a box wrapped in tartan paper and says jokingly
"This is a gift for everyone."
I open it up and what should my eyes behold you ask? A new pair of Trousers now I know that that is dirty word and could get this thread locked but honestly if it were anything else I would be happy to tell you. I suppose that my poor uninformed brother can be forgiven the offending gift came from his menswear store.
I told him thanks and that they would hang up in my closet. I just wish he would get it through his head that as of today I am 41 and am quite capable of dressing myself.

I guess I should be the poor sap that has to tell you. Pleats actually go in the back. You're not being fashionable. Sorry but it's about time you knew.

Some people just don't get it. Their problem, not yours (although that's harder when it's family).

Maybe he's secretly hoping that you gift him with a shiny new kilt.

That's something my brother would do too, and he was kilted before me! He only wore his as a member of an FD pipe band (drum major). He hasn't worn it since the band broke up.

Well... My advice, however unpopular it might prove, is to hold him down and give him noogies and purple nurples till he cries for mama.

    Or not.

I would have told him in no uncertain terms where he could put his trousers, however uncomfortable their new location might make him.

Cut it in as many pieces as you have (ignorant) family members and send each a piece.

A rather thoughtless gift, but you can always turn it to good by donating the trousers to a thrift shop.

I was thinking of taking all of the trousers he has given me in the past and making a patchwork kilt out of them. I ws also thinking of buying him a kilt for his birthday, lets see how he likes it.
