An epilog
Thanks for coming on the journey with us. I do apologize for not getting a picture of Matt or of the museum, but there are a number of those floating around. My wife and I really enjoyed the weekend and we are planning additonal trips into the North Carolina area again real soon. In fact, my wife liked the area so much she is considering a vacation home there! Well, we shall see! (that might cut into my kilt fund, after all! )
So, until next time.... Be blessed!

Looks like an awesome trip Mike! I love roaming through those mountains. You've got me looking at my calendar to find a weekend to go up there again soon. Thanks for the gorgeous pics.

i love that area so much. i've been there quite a few times, cause i grew up just two hours from there. i got bit by the photography bug because of all the beautiful waterfalls in the area. i've burned alot of film in that part of NC.
the locals say that the section if US-64 that is at the Cullasaja Gorge is the most dangerous road in the country. it is a hard thing to quantify, but once you have driven it yourself and get passed by an 18-wheeler, you'll understand. i drove that road one winter with patches of ice scattered about the pavement. it is a twisty narrow road closely bordered by a rock wall on one side and a shear drop-off with few guard rails on the other. if i was sitting on coal, i would have made some diamonds.
your pictures are awesome. i really love the last one with the moss covered fence.
{sigh} makes me homesick.

You take wonderful pictures. They are very clear and vibrant, with a good eye for the artistic and impressive.

Thanks Guys. I took up photography about 10 years ago to get me out of the house. Once the bug bit, I was taking between 25-40 rolls of film a week. That lead to self processing and printing. To save my marriage, I converted to digital about 3 years ago. (in the long run, it was cheaper than film and processing).
The last photo of the turkey vulture was taken with my camera phone as we got to the top of the hill. The rest were taken with either a Canon 10d or a Canon S3 IS.

It looks you all had a great time. Those pics are not from the run of the mill digital camera. What are you shooting with? You have a real eye for composition.

Wonderful pictures, I have made the trip from Atlanta to Franklin NC but I have not been able to visit all of those great waterfalls and other sights up in that area.
Thanks for sharing the pictures.
