Mixing clan regalia
I know that the general feeling of most of us is that there are no tartan police and no one is 'entitled' to wear a specific tartan, but I wondered how people felt about wearing the tartan of one clan while sporting the badge of another. For instance, on occasions I wear a Buchanan kilt (mother's tartan) but would it be acceptable to wear my Clan Home crest belt buckle (father's clan) along with it ?
The Kilt is my delight !

You have a connection to both clans - go for it.

I dont see where theyd be a problem .In my eyes when you wear the kilt especially if they are a connection to the tartan family or whatever its something to be proud of .Now if you were to sport a Loud McCloud with a sporron with with Gordon dress tartan like Ive been seeing lately I might raise a eyebrow and say huh....?lol

Indeed, you cover both sides and most people shouldn't be getting that close to your belt buckle in the first place to read it
CT - go for it.

Entitlements
I disagree that "there is no shch thing as entitlements." They do exist, they simply have no power. For example Clan Donnell consists of me and my daughter. As Clan Chiefton I have made Stillwater'd shadow tartan officially "Donnell." Can I fine you for wearing it? No. Am I "entitled" Yes. Does it mean anything? Nope.
As far as mixing well... I would not wear a McCoy tartan kilt with a Hatfield hose, they would clash. ;)

In Agreement
I guess I find myself agreeing with Sir Robert. Traditions should be honored and respected where possible.
Though I must say, if I were related to two different clans, I would see there should be room to wear a tartan badge of one of those clans and the badge of the other on the cap. Though I must say some who were knowledgeable would probably wonder. ...and it would certainy tend to muddy the waters.

I do not see a problem with it, I have been known to wear a Graham of Mantieth kilt pin on a Gunn modern kilt, My Granmother was a Gunn, she married an Allardyce, sept of Graham of Mantieth, so for me it works.
At least you do have a conection to both so that if the dreaded kilt police show up, you have an answer to thier questions.

McMurdo,
You have made my day and put a smile on my face. What do these dreaded kilt police look like?
