I.m a Whitetail Deer hunter here in Va, but I'm not into archery. Kilts for hunting are probably out for me also, since I usually hunt from a tree stand and a full body safety harness wouldn't work very well. Good luck on your hunt though. Are you going to wear camo kilts. or one of the "hunting tartans"?

It sounds pretty cool. I'd like to be in it or at least hear how it progresses. I've had my license for a year now...I'm a first generation hunter .

I'm not exactly a pro yet, but I'm currently learning how to bow hunt for my move to Idaho.
I do all of my fly-fishing in a kilt and I don't see why I wouldn't hunt in once either.

I hunt in kilts. Mostly upland (birds) and turkeys, I have to watch out for briars and brambles. Some good leggins or gaiters solves that problem. I haven't had the need for camo you bow hunters might ( seems like a good excuse to call Steve Ashton and get some ). The real challenge for me is keeping stella (dog) out front, she thinks kilt lifting is fun for sport.

I'd tentatively be interested. The only reason it's not a total yes is that I'm trying for an Alaska hunt with my old 1SG. Probably the only kilt on that trip will be for wearing around camp. How soon would you need confirmation? I think the weathered Lamont would do well in NM for archery elk. Depending on the time of year and the foliage remaining the modern MacCallum would work well also.

Haven't hunted kilted because I've not had the opportunity. Don't use a tree stand cause I'm neither a bird nor a squirrel and prefer the ground. In hunting wearing 18th century dress I've used a matchcoat which when worn resembles a great kilt and it's been good. I probably have a pic of it if someone wants to see it.

I'm a die hard grouse hunter, though I have had some good success bow hunting whitetails around here. I'd like to toss my hat in the ring, but it'd take me away during bird season so,.....

I've yet to hunt kilted. Following my English Setter through grouse cover in a kilt would be painful at best. I've spent the last three bear seasons trying to add a bruin to my resume, and some bear steaks to my menu. All my attempts have been with my bow, but none have been kilted. This year I may switch to my muzzleloader for this undertaking. If so, I'll do it kilted. Of course a kilt will go to bird camp, but will only be worn in camp after the day is over.

Anyway, best of luck, and I look forward to hearing and seeing pics.

I'm an avid whitetail hunter and occasional squirrel hunter. I usually use rifle, but I have just started w/ the bow this past season. No luck yet, but I'm still a rookie.

Hunting in Louisiana in a kilt during the early season...call me "skeeter bait". Our mosquitos stay out until...well...sometimes December and on and off throughout the year. Not to mention the ticks out there...holy cow they are bad even now.

Besides...nobody makes a kilt in Natural Gear camo, so...

I wonder if you may be thinking of the bit in Disney's 'Jungle Book' where Shere Khan the tiger overhears a discussion about Mowgli being lost in the jungle, and 'thinks' (we hear his voice on the sound-track) 'A MAN-cub! How interesting!'

    Best regards

Nope, it was definitely a movie where a bunch of rich adventure seekers are going to hunt down some poor schmuck and a "back east, upper crust" type woman exclaims "A man hunt! How exciting!" Now I'll have to do the research and find it...

Sure it wasn't the Gilligan's Island episode w/ Rory Calhoun as the hunter???

There was also a movie where Jean Claude Van Dame played a "cajun" (horribly I might add) where rich people were hunting humans...it wasn't that great.
