I hunt with firearms and bows. Not gone kilted yet, 'cause I only just started that last fall, and the gun deer season here was -10F last winter, not real kilt friendly kinda weather for all day out doors. I did go mushroom hunting kilted this spring (couple weeks ago) and ticks are a bigger problem than with pants (as are multiflora rose bushes).
Is this to be an archery hunt with modern equipment, or are recurves/longbows acceptable as well ? I doubt I can come up with the time/money at the same time, but the thought is very appealing.

I'd love to join you, but the family is flying to Arizona in August, so there goes the travel budget.
As Panache mentioned, we are dedicated traditional archers. MadBagpiper took 4th in the IBO World Championship (youth division) when he was 12. The three that beat him (and not by much!) were all 17, including the Canadian National Champion. Haven't gotten a turkey yet, but venison and squirrel have graced the table. We do far more 3-D tournaments these days. Our big NC-SC State Trad Championship is next weekend, and there will be at least a couple of X-kilts on the range ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
I'll try to get some pics of that.

For those concerned with as a hunter/kilter kilted due to lower appendage damage if you wera some paintball knee/shin pads such as http://www.anythingxtreme.com/Empire...3635C2098.aspx. I'm planning on going paintballing kilted with these and a cup (or very, very big sporran).

For leg protection while kilted hunting, do as the Highland light infantrymen did while fighting in N. America in the 1700's: over-the-knee gaiters or leggings:
