I remember someone insisting that the skean dhu goes in the right sock if you're coming in peace and left if you've got bad intentions, or maybe it was the other way around.
My culture has always been if you're not in a safe place, it's not to be seen. That's why it is called a hidden knife.
Go with left sock if you're left handed, right if you're right handed. It's meant to be at hand.
It was a good video, though.
