    I too am a motorcyclist and a kilt wearer. Although I do consider the two to be mutually exclusive as I am one of those who follow the "all the gear all the time" philosophy. Now that said, I have tried on numerous motorcycles at dealers when wearing a kilt and have received no negative comments. At a large motorcycle trade show in Chicago in Feb 2006, one booth was staffed by people all wearing Utilikilts. I was of course kilted for this event. When I picked up my most recent bike (2007 Kawasaki ZX-6R) the dealer commented about how he remembers me because of my kilts.

    Now, all that said, many of my non mototcyclist friends feel it necessary to tell me not to wear a kilt when going to various places that attract "bikers" as they are afraid I will get beat up. At least my friends are trying to look out for me, I guess.

    If you start in Vancouver, drive east until you run out of land, either get wet or take Confederation Bridge, and there ya go, Prince Edward Island.

    PEI = Prince Edward Island

    When I was a kid they did not have the bridge and we had to cross by Ferry I was only 5 at the time and we were met by a Cousin in a pony cart. That is mostly what I remember because I had never riden in a cart before. I also remember most of the men were wearing kilts, never seen a man wearing a Kilt and my Grand Father had his on and I never saw him wear it again. We were there for the Wallace clan reunion. That was in the early 50's.

    I have thought of what would or could happen if i tried to ride my Harley in my Kilt I don't think I really want to try it even though our ancestors rode horses in kilts, Maybe the speed would make the difference (a little too fast). I really think most of my friends would rather me not.

    I've said it before, but for me riding a motorcycle and wearing a kilt are separate pursuits, I have had a rock bounce off my leg while wearing jeans and it hurts, I was hit with a cigarette butt thrown from a sunroof while on the highway, I have been stung by a bee while riding. My point is you never know what is going to happen out there, and it's a good idea in my opinion to be prepared as best you can for what might happen. Nobody else is even watching for you out there in my experience, so you got to watch out for yourself.

    Hopping off the soapbox, now back to your regularily scheduled forum.

    Those people are lacking in some of the best friends of all.
    Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?
