Oh yuck, I do not envy him that ride. I love the area up where y'all live, but riding to Springfield from there, no thanks. I rode daily for years between Manassas and Fairfax, but I avoided the big main roads for the most part. I start a new job in Fredericksburg Monday, but I doubt that I'll ride on I-95 every day. Plus it's a dress-up job and I don't want to have to change at the office. Might be able to ride more once we move down there.

Ouch. Just ouch.
How many more statistics does it take before stricter measures are taken to ensure that drivers learn to watch for bikes? That should be a double manslaughter case or something. Cyclists DIE because of careless automobile operators.
I have seen that cigarrette butt deal too many times to count. All it takes is a stiff gust to get that airborne (or it already is), and get it caught under your helmet. Then you have a very dangerous situation on hand.
People rarely think of the consequences of their actions.

Just a bump back up to the top now that riding season is in full swing in for nearly all who read this board. Be careful my friends.
