Hawick Highland Games

I think this is already in the calendar of Scottish kilt events for 2007, but an unashamed bump, as Hawick Hilghland Games are next Saturday, 2nd June at the Volunteer Park, Hawick. Hawick Pipe Band and Innerleithen Pipe Band will both be playing. Here's hoping the park won't be too waterlogged after all the rain. It look like I'll be there after all - I had to change my duty day at the aviation museum as I have tree surgeons coming on Saturday morning to lop some trees but would expect to be at the games in the afternoon,

GAMES STILL ON DESPITE THE EXCEPTIONAL RAINFALL
Well it rained again here all day yesterday. I managed to escape the rain band by going over to Weardale for my hike as it has been drier over there, but arrived home and it was still raining here, as it is again today, so I thought I'd better e-mail one of the organisers to see if the games can still take place.
Just received this reply:-

we were hoping to have the Market there as well but due to the weather we are unable to do that now but the Highland Games will still be on at 1pm to about 5pm then there will be a Massed Pipe Band March along the Street at 5.30pm

Looks like there won't be the usual stalls but there should still be games and pipers. Should be a good afternoon out, but best to wear boots as the ground will be muddy.

I am in the South for work on Thurs/Fri and wont get back home until late Friday evening, But I will try and get to te games - your only about 100 miles from me. I will find you Cessna !
