Cheers and thank you to all of those who served that day and any other day in the armed forces.

We visited Normandy just before the 60th anniversary. My son and I walked out to the waters edge as the tide was out and looked inland. Knowing how much my combat load weighs I couldn't imagine running that distance under the fire that was coming down. The dedication and willpower they displayed to cover that ground was amazing. It is a trip worth taking for everyone.

    YMOS,
    Tony

I heard a broadcast of Ronald Reagan's trip to Normandy during the 40th Aniversary.
The broadcast was on the radio today.
    Was very moving.

Very fitting to remember a real turning point in the history of War.

I have not been to the beaches, but I have been to the site of the Pegasus Bridge, Caen, Falaise and to one of the cemeteries. All were very moving though difficult to visualise what it must have been like at the time.

May those who died and those who still live be aware of our gratitude.
