    Dress Gordon Tartan, Flannel

I found several bolts of Gordon Dress in a flannel at the local fabric store. They charge $3.99 a yard, last I looked. Would anyone be interested in some of this fabric? I can go there and get it if they want.
The fabric store is called SR Harris, and it is north of Minneapolis, MN.

I bought about 20 yrds or so for myself. My man is a Gordon, and I do not know what the heck I am going to do with it, but I could not pass up the opportunity. It sure is not heavy enough for a kilt!

Any suggestions as to what things I can sew with it?

    Julie

We are in discussions of hosting a Clan Gordon at the Minnesota Scottish Fair next year, and using some of the fabric to sell as sashes to visitors to defray the tent costs. Does anyone think that this would be a ok thing to do?

Games organizers frown on the idea of clan tents selling items. The games usually get a percentage of the vendor's sales. So that potentially cuts into their pockets. The only thing that could get by are items that the clan produces exclusively for it members.

What could you use the material for? Table cloths, bean-bag paper weights, mini flags, and of course a sash for yourself. You could make extra sashes for Gordon members who come "un-tartaned". This way they feel better about marching in the parade of tartans.

As for the cost of the tent, the clan itself might pay for it. Each clan has its rules for paying for these, so check with them.

    Good luck!

Gordon dress, Royal Stewart, and Black Watch are the most common tartans. They can usually be found in most fabric stores.

I say make him a kilt. He'll love you for it!

I have a few of the Sportkilt cotton flannels, and they are what I put on after work, after showering...what ever. The flannel is so comfortable.

I would never wear them out anywhere, but they get the most wear of all my kilts.

If you're a regular at the Games, then make half a dozen sashes and keep them on hand for clan members who show up without any tartan. Also, now you have a tablecloth for the clan tents' table.

Most clans have a tartan flag or banner. If your local chapter doesn't well...now they do!

How about a vest for yourself and a nice flannel shirt?
