"MacMedic." I'm a nursing student, and want to wear the kilt in our class photo next year.

Yow! Now that's a wait! I guess I'm not in the running for the record then... or at least, I certainly hope not!

Thanks. I haven't actually been in years, but once upon a time, I played Dr. Scott.

Sneaking up on six months...
I'm sure this is no record, but it may be in the top 100...
Measured at the shop 17 Dec, 2006. Cloth is a special order weave, Christie Modern Strome weight. As it was right before the holidays, the mill did not get the order until sometime in January. As of mid-April the kiltmaker did not have the fabric yet...
I called the shop last week and was assured that the kilt would be finished in time for the wedding. I was also assured they had never missed a deadline. I hope so, as today is t-minus 29 days.
They are good folks and came highly recommended so I'm not too worried.

... 6 months for me to buy a econo kilt, make a practice kilt, then make the MacPherson kilt pleated to the set. JUST IN TIME FOR THE KC HIGHLAND GAMES TOMORROW!

I ordered my kilt with (what I thought was) plenty of time for it to arrive before my wedding. The order was put in at some time in May of 06 and it arrived in the first week of October (less than two weeks before the wedding, but just in time for me to give it a trial run at the St. Louis Highland Games the weekend before the wedding).
I didn't mind the time it took, but I was put off by the lack of communication from the Kilt Store where I made the purchase. For that much money (my wedding outfit, including kilt, jacket rental, sgian dubh, sporran, socks, kilt pin, and cuff links, was about four times the wife's outfit...), I'd like to have good customer service.
