1) Pick the one you like best. Family ties don't REALLY matter.

2) You don't have to have a PC. There are other options available. Argylle jackets are dressy but a little less formal than a PC. Even a regular tweed jacket will work. DO NOT wear a standard suit coat. They are almost always too long to work properly with a kilt. Also, if you want a PC look, try www.uniformalwarehouse.com.
