    Washing a Stillwater Economy Kilt

I was looking at the tag on my Stillwater Economy kilt. I I am a little uncertain on the tag instructions. I was going to contact Stillwater, but I am also curious as to any wisdom from owners to this type of kilt.

FYI if it makes any difference my washing machine is a front loader.

I don't think the type of machine should matter, I wash my SWKs on Cold water Gentle cycle. After the wash and rinse, I run it through an extra spin dry. After the spin take it out and hang it up, I use the shower curtain rod and a few clip style hangers. Flatten out the pleats by hand, and once it dries you should only need minimal ironing

    Thanks, Zardoz,
After hanging up the kilt to dry to you thing that there would be a problem to put it in a drier with no heat for a few minutes to remove any lint?

I don't think that would be a problem. I have animals... so before dressing I hit almost everything with one of those sticky lint rollers .

I washed my SWK economy the first day I had it. I managed to spill leather balm all over the apron. Same procedure as Zardoz, gentle cycle, laid over a drying rack, then hung up. It was dry next morning.

I used regular detergent that time, normally I'd probably use Woolite for dark/all colors whichever is available. Not too much Woolite, and run an extra rinse cycle if it seems to need it.

Touched it up with a cool iron. After washing the apron exhibited a crease that was probably where the bolt of fabric was folded at some point, so ironed that flat.

I just washed mine today. When I removed it from the washing machine the outside surface of the of the straps was 'blistered'. I went ahead a hung it out on the line. It is now try and the 'blisters' went away. I put it in the dryer on a no heat setting for a few minutes to remove any lint. Now I am ready to iron it, but it looks like it should not take much. I am ready to buy a few more kilts.

I washed it this morning. The straps were 'blistered' on the outside. I hung it on the clothes line, then put it in the dry with no heat for ten minutes to remove any lint. It came out good. The blisters seemed to have gone away. Now it just needs a little ironing.
