    You are quite right Phil about alterations and the difference between a well made garment and one made to make a quick buck. The kilt in question was made some time around 1950 by the then A&J Scott co. Aberdeen, now known as Alex Scott. There are things that were done in the constrution of this kilt that would not be thought of today, for example each pleat has sizing sewn into it to help keep the pleats crisp. It really shows the kind of workmanship and pride that goes into a well made kilt.
