TIPS-
dinnae try tae dae arr see tae much...and dinnae travel tae a new toon every day arr every other day.... (ya spend yur whale trip checking in & oot, upacking & packing cases, trying tae find a place tae park, trying tae find B&B's... gettin' lost oan wee roads... gettin stuck in traffic... sitting' in airports arr rail stations...and sae on....ya waste away yur holiday....)... stay a' each place 3 days arr maire befair movin' oan!
since ya arr a Navy man I'd suggest John Paul Jones Cottage... (a day trip frae Ferintosh)

Scotland is a wee country compared tae usa... but dinnae bae decieved...
Scotland has 790 islands an 6000 miles o' coastline (just the mainland- no countin' the island coasts)
an 600 sq miles o' lochs....
Scotland has o'er 600 castles...
an roon 100 distilleries...
540 golf courses...
100's o' neolithic standin' stanes an circles...
an 100's o' Roman ruins...
there is literally thousands o' things tae see an dae in Scotland...
dinnae think ya "HAVE TO" dae it a' in yin trip.... ya cannae see it a'!

If you go to stonehenge you will be disappointed far better to go to the stones in the isles.
If around Edinburgh the castle is obvious, but also the Forth Bridge, take the wee boat out to inchcolm abbey if its a nice day.
Try the Wallace monument if your about Stirling.
If your in Ireland try to catch a GAA game or up in Belfast a Rugby match at Ravenhill

Look at the Scottish holiday thread, decide on just a few things you want to do while here and enjoy it.
Most people don't get to visit at all, so make the trip a memorable one without stressing yourself out.
If you're lucky, you'll get to come again before you know it!
