What a beautiful dog; indeed, a sad loss.

At least, her last moments were good ones - playing fetch with a favorite toy, going for a car ride & being with her best friend.

My prayers & condolences to you & your wife at this difficult passing.

I'm sorry I missed this the other day. Deepest condolences to you and your wife.

    The Rainbow Bridge
    By Steve and Diane Bodofsky

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

    For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Thinking about this actually made my eye's tear up a bit.

Caradoc, I’m so sorry for your loss. I can understand the bond we make with our fury friends. My dog is 12 and I’ve had her during her whole life. She was there before I even met my wife. She always listens to my complains about the world and she never minds some good petting. Now that she’s up in the years I’m worried how I’ll handle the inevitable.
I hope your doing well and the great thing is that she lived a long and happy life. From what I can tell you treated her great and I’m sure she repaid you in kind. Remember that and treasure the moments you had.

Do you have any more pics of her?

I have lots of pictures of her. Since I switched from film to digital, the dogs have been my best models for practicing my craft.

The entire photoset can be found here.

Sarah was the red dog, Katie is the blonde.
