I'm far from a flag waving P.E.T.A. activist, or a vegan. But, I just have no sympathy for this kind of fellow.

Let's not lose perspective here guys. This is one kilted man getting bulldozed. Maybe the only one ever. How many thousands of bifurcated guys have been pounded in the pants by a bull? Of course one can see that in this circumstance, wearing a kilt is exactly like waving a flag at a bull. Not recommended unless one is in top form.
    I've kilt for less.

(said totally tongue in cheek here - well mostly tongue in cheek - actually not very tongue in cheek but sorta in jest, then again...)

Well, as I mentioned, I ran from the bulls. Why did I do it? For several reasons. First of all, I was young -- twenty years old -- and had a bit of a reputation as the guy who would take any risk. At twenty, it can be hard to face the guys you work in a dangerous job with, and say, "No, thanks, that's too dangerous for me."

Secondly, there's that Mark Twain quote that someone here has in their signature line -- something about how, in twenty years, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the things you did do.

And third -- why not? You only live once. Might as well have some stories to tell from the living of it. Here was a story I was going to be able to tell back home, to people who'd never even thought of doing it themselves.

So, do I have sympathy for the guy who got bulldozed? Yes. Do I admit he got himself into it, and knew the risks when he did? Yes. But man... what a story this guy's going to have to tell. And unlike me, he's got photographic evidence, seen by the whole world!

Just another example of youth being wasted on the young, but I agree with Mr. MacDougall, ...why not? I hope the kilt survived, although a kilt with hole in it from a bull horn, there's a story to be shared at the pub.

Holy Frijoles I know bull fighting is ingrained in the Spanish culture. I know some of the history of how it came to be as it is today. I will not try to oppose it Some day I'd like to attend one just for the experience. But this running of the bulls thing is just plain suicidal.

Well when people say your full of bull, he can whip out his Photo and prove them right.:butt:
I think it's the red driving cap that got the bull's attention.

After reflecting on the logic of running with the bulls in a kilt, I have determined that it is quite possibly the most logical garment to wear.

Taking what we know of bull fighting techniques, the bull fixates on the center of the cape as this is wear the matador is supposed to be standing, but the matador is actually standing off to one side. The kilt billowing out while running could act much the same way so that as the runner "zigs" or "zags" the bull will remain locked onto the trailing tartan, therefore providing the runner a few extra inches of buffer from the impaling points of Los Torros.

Now all I have to do is split this atom....where did I put my chisel?
