Kilt No.78 - The Wedding Kilt!

Just keeping you abreast of the latest addition to The Kilt Kollection, as is my wont!
No.78 comes in the form of a TFCK three-piece kilt suit in fine, lightweight navy and grey pinstripe wool. I needed a new kilt suit anyway but since I had been invited to the 'Wedding of the Year' in Scotland, I decided to order one that was suitable for this occasion. The buttons are antiqued Celtic, and the lining of the jacket and waistcoat is silver satin which I was able to carry through in the silk tie worn with a pink shirt. Here are two photos of the suit taken at home a week after the event:

The wedding was that of Howie Nicholsby of TFCK/Geoffrey (Tailor) in Edinburgh and it took place in the open air, on the shores of Loch Etive near Oban. I was honoured to be asked to give a reading during the ceremony of Robert Burns' "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose" after which, his bride took a red rose from her bouquet and handed it to Howie - a very touching gesture. The second reading was given by TV Presenter, Gail Porter.

When I get my pictures sorted, I will post one or two of the wedding here.

Hamish you have done it again how very dapper indeed, and to top it all being asked to take part by reciting one of my favorite pieces by Burns well, all I can say is I wish I had been there to hear it.

					Hamish,
 I have but one word...

 SMASHING!

Well done, but in all honesty we expect nothing less.

By the by, there was a discussion some time ago about bowler hats and kilts. I ventured that only a pinstripe kilted suit would work with such a chapeau.
That wonderful suit would work perfectly with one (and yes I do remember how little you enjoy hats).

Howie must have pleased to see one of his works so well worn.

 Cheers

Very dapper, yes very dapper indeed! This is a very nice conservative formal look, and you carry it off extremely well.

That looks so much better than a formal morning suit that gets worn at so many weddings in the UK. WELL DONE, Sir!

My goodness, how tall are you? The room looks tiny.
Something didn't look right about the assemblage but I realized what it was. I thought it was the buttons but it was the photo itself. Usually your pics are more artistic and taken outside. The pottery on the bookcase extends your shoulder line and the shadow from the flash gives you a different shape.

Once I make myself see past that, it's quite a nice suit.

It is a beautiful looking kilt and jacket...
But it looks so.....well,...."English"....maybe that's because I just watched the movie King Ralph with Peter O'Toole in a similar suit...with trousers of course.

Certainly perfect for the occasion though.
