I was there on Sunday and checked them out. They seemed to be nice kilts, but I don't know how truthful their description is. It doesn't feel like worsted wool, but it may be a light weight merino wool. As for made in Scotland, I am suspect about that one too....

The pleats were sewn down up top and the material was quite soft. However it certainly feels much lighter than the Lochcarron or the Marton Mills wool that my Scottish kilts were made from. It felt about as light as my PV kilts. I would guess that these are maybe a 4 yard (if that) kilt. The tartans I noticed are the standard fare (royal stewart, pride of scotland, Black Watch, etc, etc). They are premade, so I wouldn't expect the fit to be perfect.

These things are being advertised in the Celtic Connection as rugby/casual kilts, and I would think that description fits them well. For $150 canadian, it is probably a good deal and I would think it would be alright. They just felt to light (like a woman's skirt) to me.

I would personally be more inclined to go for 5 yard casual from www.canadiancasualkilts.com (especially if he still has some 12 0z Maple Leaf PV) or a casual from USA kilts. Both would not be too much more, are custom fit, and I am sure they will outlast the kilts at the Quay.

I would love to compare the CC kilts to a Stillwater, as I suspect they are very similar. I have seen much worse for more $$$.
