I turned on the radio while changing my son, here in Seattle, and heard the report. I had to call home, all of my family is in Minnesota, and my Dad travels a lot as a salesman. They were all ok, but boy what a worry!

I am "happy" to hear the news today and here that the death count was lower then they had first stated, of course the day is not over.

What a mess this will cause. I am also glad that nobody is really jumping on the "terrorist" attack bandwagon.

My heart and prayers go out to my home state!

The biggest question, and it will take some time to answer, is why did the bridge collapse. There was some minor repair going on, but nothing related to what happened. There didn't seem to be any seismic activity and it didn't seem to be a terrorist activity. The bridge just collapsed.

It really makes you appreciate just how quickly and without warning something like this can happen.

Part of my job is to plan and execute rescue operations. There is nothing worse than amatures, nothing against, EMTs or ex medics 91 W (if I remember correctly) for Army in the way trying to help (I am 18D) Military guys should know what that is if not you can google it.
The press did the right thing by staying out of the way they where probly in little birds and wouldn't of had room for people anyway. Even if they did land they would be taking up what little space there was when the med evac helos got there. Blackhawks I am assuming need a little more room than the news helos.
The people around the area are all to be comended on there acts they did a great job and the press did the right thing. IMHO
Glad you and yours are safe.
