Probably not. Something about mental images of a kilted man tussling on the floor with an idiot exposing himself to bystanders that leaves them cold. But I agree, having done security for many years the kilt would have helped. Especially in the projects.
The poor misguided soul who warned about boredom has a different take than this old guard. Depends on how you do your job. It can be boring. It can be very rewarding. Good luck if you go that route.
I myself moved from the kitchen to the dining room when I needed more cash. Is that an option? patrons really seemed to apprecate a server who could describe the offerings and preparation in detail.
Godspeed in your search.

Eric,
I have to agree with the security work, I did it for a few years and depending on the site you at it can be either very dull or very busy, Kilts would be out of the question, Where I work we use Allied and I did work for them for a while I know how their dress code is. I wish you all the luck in the world my friend.

You may also want to drop in at the Bellevue Westaff office and get on their temporary staffer list. Sometimes the work can be pretty good. It depends on what you're willing to do and if they've something that fits your schedule. I would show up trousered for the interview, though.
I sometimes got work @ ICOM America, doing firmware upgrades on communications radios. That job was actually kilt friendly, since you weren't visible to the public, except when you'd arrive and leave. The other jobs I had through them weren't. Usually because they were manufacturing jobs.
