    I like round buckles too. It would be simpler to do it in steel, highly polish it, then gun blue it. Brownell's oxynate #7 produces a black that is as near to dead black as anything I have ever seen, and it is still as shiny as whatever finish you put on it first. Black chrome would be cool too, but it takes more gear to do it. And as a commercial venture, there would have to be more pieces to get it done reasonably. I think. I dunno much about plating though, so I could be wrong about the cost on that. Most of the cost for custom plating like car/bike parts is in the polishing time. If it was already polished, the plating might not be much. Maybe a 12 pack on friday afternoon at the chrome shop. ;) You neer know.
