Ha ha. That's great.
It's something awkward though to hear the same bagpipes remark over and over again from people who think they are witty. A test of patience sometimes ... lol.
On days when I feel like I've had enough, I just tell them in a serious tone that I'm trying to get a Section 8. My elders get the MASH joke.

I have found one really good use for my pipe cd's in the pick-em-up truck. They are the absolute perfect counter attack to the really loud rapper music coming out of the car next to me at the stop light.

I've done that too. I actually had one guy roll his windows up at a stop light. Even without a big amp like they usually have, the pipes seem to be able to pierce the loud thumping of the rap. Notice I didn't call it music.

We're looking at getting the girlfriend's son a beginners set of pipes, chanter, etc. for Christmas this year. He really wants to learn how to play. He has the wind for it. He currently plays the tuba.

Probably better, the bagpipes aren't nearly as piercing and grating.

I wear kilts sometimes to work. I am a network admin for a small community college. Everytime I wear one, there is this female that works in another deptment that asks me everytime, "Where's your bagpipes?" Little does she know that they are right beside my desk so I can go out on our athletic fields during lunch and practice. This individual is one that causes alot of problems for my deptartment and will say things pretty off color at time. The other day, I got thet same old tired question, "Where is your bagpipes?" I just replied "under my kilt!" Her jaw dropped. I was going to add "why? Are you looking for lessons?" but, she is not one to play fair and would say something, even though she will drop statements like that in a heart beat.
It is pretty stereotypical, most only see pipers in kilts and that is what they associate it with. Some are just ignorant and they need to be enlightened. Others, are just "smarta**es and ,well as Ron White says, "you can't fix stupid".
Ha ha count me in the group of guys that like drowning out the "c"Rap with my pipes CD's, I get alot of weird and disgusted looks from them, I love it!

The other day at Trader Joes a younger fellow was my cashier. He looked at my attire and asked me if I played the foghorn...

I let him know that I sadly didn't have a lighthouse.

Amateurs! All of you!
For truly delivering shock and awe to the loud rap music crowd, one must freestyle in one's kilt. (that's freestyle rapping brothers and sisters)
Tends to snap them out if it, and that right soon.
If you can't rap, Bluegrass is another great alternative.
There are some smashing replies to the "bagpiper" challenge that don't wear well on a family forum. A little thought and imagination on your part.....
