In my capacity as the town crier, I once again call your attention to the City Of Chicago's Celtic Fest to be held in bee-o-you-tiful Grant Park (right near that big chrome bean thing) September 15 and 16...but don't forget the Friday, August 14 evening kick-off event at the Cultural Center (Michigan Avenue between Randolph and Washington Streets). Please see the links on the Celtic Fest Home Page for all the sordid details. http://egov.cityofchicago.org:80/cit...inCategoryOID= I'll try to post some of my photos from last year's Fest as an incentive for those of you within spittin' distance to attend. One of the highlights last year was the Galician band that showed up...I'm still tryin' to get my hands on a copy of their album. Anyway, it's yet another excuse to hang around downtown Chicago kilted (like we need an excuse?). My advice: start applying your sunscreen now and let it soak in...I never cease to be amazed at the number of fair-haired people of Celtic descent who are walking around turning beet because they think that they're only going to be getting a LITTLE bit of sun. Don't forget the backs of the knees! Best AA
Woo Hoo! Thanks to my wife's connections with the Canadian Tourism folks (who are invariably really generous and nice) we (that would be my family) now have an invite to a special Nova Scotia oriented reception that'll be held as part of Celtic Fest. Nice...very nice. Best AA
It was a toss-up as to whether this belonged in the Kilt Do's And Don'ts thread or here...you can make up your own minds about that...but here it is: http://egov.cityofchicago.org:80/web...estflyer_2.pdf ...because this thread needed a shameless bump! Best AA

My wife and I will be in Chicago this weekend and will be attending the Celtic Fest.
My daughter and I will be there with probably the youngest kiltie in attendance.

I just learned that Kynedd will be working the Utilikilts booth, FYI.
Convener, Georgia Chapter, House of Gordon (Boss H.O.G.) Where 4 Scotsmen gather there'll usually be a fifth. 7/5 of the world's population have a difficult time with fractions.
Well, the kickoff concert last night was outstanding. Matapat was remarkable and Lunasa was great. Looks like it's going to be seasonably chilly today...beats heat, though. I'll be kicking around wearing the Campbell of Cawdor kilt and my Xmarks kilt pin. Best AA
