I do like that... and the sporran shown by Matt, even if the tassels aren't my thing, per se. I rather like having the sporran on the belt itself.

I've never worn a sporran, so perhaps this is a stupid question.

But with a belt hanger are there ever problems with the sporran getting in the way of the seatbelt or the steering wheel while driving a car?

I was just thinking that from the looks of them, in my car I might have to either sit oddly with the sporran over the seatbelt, or else I'd need to move forward and then it would hit my steering wheel.

I plan on ordering another kilt this week, and am considering getting other than a UK which likely means no pockets and the need for a sporran. It would be for daily wear and I would probably prefer a belt and hanger to a strap.

For comfort I slide my sporran to my side when wearing my seat belt.

What are your opinions on this type of thing?
I just purchased these on Saturday, at the Central New York Games in Syracuse from Scotland Yard and took my expensive sporran chain off. As a big guy, once i tightened my belt. It was very comfortable... except for sitting in the grass...it kind of dug into my thighs. As for driving with it on,,I undue my sporran and put it on the side of me...

I have never had a problem with it. I always wear my sporran on hangers, not a belt, and the seatbelt doesn't hit my sporran, nor does the sporran interfere with driving.

I just recieved a set of sporran hangers from USA Kilts along with a Kidder sporran which I will proudly wear with my Matt Newsome box pleat (see jonesing) Like Matt said earlier, they (hangers) so justice to "larger" men, which BTW I am. The hangers and sporran are first rate, I like them alot.

I haven't tried hangers yet but they look good so am planing to acquire some.

Sometime once I am seated in the car the sporran hasn't gone under the steering wheel properly but it's easy to get it underneath and it doesn't brush against the wheel or affect the steering.

I've thought sporran hangers looked like a good idea for a while now so a few weeks ago I went to my local leather store and bought a pair that they sold as key ring holders for a few bucks. The first thing I noticed was that the sporran was now free to bounce and swing wildly as I walked. Not a good thing. I've never had this problem at all with the chain or a belt. The second problem was that the hangers and the sporran were able to move side to side on the belt, until one or the other encountered the buckle. Again not a good thing. The third thing, and certainly not a deal breaker, was that it was very annoying when the time came to relieve myself. Obviously, with a sporran chain or belt, you can easily swing the sporran to the side and out of the way. With the hangers, you are forced to hold everything up. On the plus, it does eliminate the creasing of the apron.

I will probably use the hangers again but only if I can figure out how to stop the sporran pendulum effect.
