    Friend's 50th

We'll be attending the celebration of a friend's 50th birthday.
Since the theme is black, figured I'd wear my solid black kilt.
Ought to be a blast, as a good percentage of the attendees will be biker friends.

Will let you know if there are any survivors...

Black? If they died young, would that be grounds for celebration?

    The theme is black?

    Explain please.

Is that some kind of cut on his age? What's wrong with being a youngster of fifty?

    Confused!

It's typical, in this area, to go with a black theme for milestone birthday parties.
It's simply a jest regarding growing older... all in good fun.

(for example:for my sister's 30th, we put tombstones all over her front yard, with inscriptions like: "Here lies _____'s youth", etc.)

Additionally, my friend is a biker (as are a good portion of the attendees), black being a dominate color in motorcycling attire. Sort of kills 2 birds with 1 stone, I guess...

It's all silly, but good natured...

Yeah they do the same thing around here. I put it in the same category as waiters and waitresses singing some dumb birthday song in a restaurant. It's one of the things I will not put up with from my friends.
