My vote for plant badge is the Dandelion. (One of my favorite plants of all time. No lawn is complete without them, IMNSHO)
For a motto, I definitely like the "Not by blood, but by choice"
For a battle cry, I like:
Kiss my pleats!
A man after my own heart. So many people clear the dandelions from their lawns that when you see a lawn covered in them there is always an all green one close by. I always point out to whoever I am with how beautiful the yellow and green looks compared to the boring all green next door.

Simply said Hank (highlandtide) owns xmarksthescot.com and he takes great pride in this place. As such, if there were to be official "XMTS Tents" at Highland Gatherings and the like, he would have to ensure that each and everyone properly represented this site. Since he can't personally be there to do this he isn't comfortable with official XMTS tents.
He and the the rest of the forum staff are always plesaed to see X Markers gather. Speaking as a member of the Nor Cal Rabble we have been very fortunate to find welcome in the Clan MacNaughton Tent. It is there we gather as X Markers and friends of the MacNaughtons. I know other members have found similar welcome with other vendor or clan tents. In my opinion we are the richer for this sharing.
Cheers

What I dont want happening is the unintended representation that will occur by trying to make some official presence.
If I could be there then it would be one thing b/c I could make sure that the site is being represented well. Not saying that Alan would misrepresent us but this is not only a community but an enterprise for me.
I know all of us that help with the site think it is fantastic that so many people have come together and shared a pint, an afternoon, or a casual meet up. I have enjoyed meeting several members of this forum and hope to meet many more.
I understand the desire for an Xmarks booth as a common ground to meet up, but I still think that out of respect to Hank and his product, to save the cost of a booth space to anyone looking to book one, and yet to still provide a place to meet up, that Alan H has found the best solution. Find a clan tent that will host you, or set up a designated area for all Xamrks members to meet at.
If all else fails, let's all get out our Xmarks shirts, pins, and tartans out

Sign up for the XMTS Tartan!
This is indeed a good thread. I've notified the Wizard of BC to put me on his notification list for the next order of XMTS tartan! I want to wear a kilt in the tartan of our Clan XMTS!

I would love to order a shirt or two. A collard shirt would be great as some golf courses do not allow t-shirts. How can I get them?

Very true Jamie, anything that brings us together socially with other people makes us richer. We will always be greatful to Highlandtide for giving us xmarcsthescot and making it the friendly site it is, and the moderators for keeping it that way.
xmarksthescot has become much more than a place in cyberspace since members meet whenever possible. There are also threads showing that people help each other physically if that help is needed and possible.
xmarksthescot has become something special and to attach the word "clan" to it and to have a flower and a motto would only strengthen the bond between members and it would be fun.
A clan tent is certainly not neccessary. Indeed anything we do in the name of xmarks requires an ok from Highlandtide.
Highlandtide is right to be very proud of his site and his say about anything we do is final. We just hope he finds these suggestions as positive as we do.

Ditto, dandelion.
Ditto, "Not by blood, but by choice."
However the slightly less confrontational,

Can I suggest the positive prior to the negative with regards to a motto.
"By choice, not by Blood" sounds better IMHO.
