kilt makers....not tartans

Those are my exact thoughts on the subject I am a very picky person and i wont settle for anything less the what I am capable of many of the kilmakers on this board, Robert Rocky, Steve, and myself just to name a few have exacting standards they make their kilts by, it takes alot of time to find the right fabric and sources etc then to perfect the style and to make sure it is made consistantly to your standards and the customer satisfaction.
I wouldn't use something from a bargin bin becasue it was cheap I have standards and so do the other kiltmakers we have suppliers we trust and that we stick with because of the quality of the fabric they make compliments the kilmakers work. I would buy a kilt from any of the above mentioned kiltmakers not only because I have seen their work but I know they only use quality fabric to showcase their work . Sorry if I went off i was just at a festival last weekend and I had some thoughts running through my head as to what I saw being sold and passed off as "wool " kilts direct from Scotland .

I stand by what I said. I meant by "fabric from the bargin bin", is that it would be affordable and not neccesarily the choice of the wearer. There are bargins to be had, but seldom are they going to be the exact tartan or color one would prefer. I wouldn't expect Matt Newsome to make a kilt from "Spiderman" acrylic blanket material, or Cannuck to work with lavender lace, Rocky to work with paisely nylon, or Steve to work with pink camo...oh my...hmmmm....err... well three out of four isn't bad!

I definitely understand where this is coming from... And I am so glad that there are affordable kilt makers out there who have an outstanding product (Rocky comes to mine... I love my USAK). It's not hard at all for me to say, "I want a kilt in this tartan and here it is on ebay for $50!" It's also not that hard for me to say, "For just a little bit more I can have Rocky (or his lovely wife) make me one heckuva kilt in that same tartan."

BTW, what did I miss with the whole pink/maroon/Panache thing? I've seen it in all kinds of threads recently and must admit... I'm stumped.
