Top job on the kilt mate, & that stag really sets the sgian off perfectly. Mind you, I'm biased: I like the Pictish artwork so much that I had the stag tattooed on my forehead!

Well done Arlen! That is a super-looking tartan and what a bargain (when you have the knowledge and talent to do these things!). What is the yardage of your new kilt - I have always suspected that women's 'kilts' have rather less than ours?

Another question: never haing seen a woman's 'kilt' at close quarters, do the pleats run in the same direction as ours? I just wondered since the aprons are obviously reversed.

The pleats, in this one at least, run in the same direction and it still has the reverse pleat as well.
Having cut off a good length of fabric from this one I could measure it afterwards and it came out at 7 1/2 yards. So there is a good bit of fabric in this ladies Kilt. Although, I have seen some with far fewer yards than that.

It's a lovely tartan and I'm happy with it, even if it is a fairly light-weight kilt.

I bought two ladies Gray Stewart skirts from ebay, fromt he same vendor who swore it was the same fabric in both, and took them apart. Total cost was $40, or about 20% of what I'd pay for the fabric to make my kilt out of.
