The Canada Parade on July 1st is a hoot as well. A number of years ago I participated in a makeshift band, we wore the loudest looking clothes and the band major used a broomstick for his staff. If you ever get the chance to visit P.E.I. you will have a grand time.

Super pics, Cloves, you can almost hear those pipe bands.
But please satisfy my curiosity - By 4H events do you mean Four Heavies - ie Hammer Throwing; Caber Tossing; Weight for Distance and Weight over the Bar?

    Cessna,
4H is an argricultural orginization for youth. You can almost sort of think of it like scouting. Except all of the things you learn deal largely with farming. The 4H kids here spend alot of time showing animals. For instance, raise a calf, groom it, lead it into a ring for judging.
You can read more about it here

    Robert,
You're talking about the "community clash band!" That's still going strong.
All of the members wear the loudest/ugliest/weirdest stuff they can find.
This year the band major was dressed in ladies leopard print short pyjamas, and a long wig. I shoulda got pics of that too.

I'm just larking about, I hope nobody's taking me serious. Remember, I'm in the country where she has jurisdiction, I'm seeing her from a different perspective.

Sorry, didn't mean to distract us from an informative and amusing thread...again, thanks, Cloves, for taking and posting the pictures. They inspired me to go out to the shop and pleat that RCMP tartan a few different ways.

THAT"S IT!! for the life of me I couldn't think of the name....Hmmm that would've meant I would have to have made a leopard print kilt.... Since I play trombone I would be right in front...ouch.
It was one of the highlights of my summer in Charlottetown...That and sailing on a trimaran between shows.
    Thanks Cloves

She actually may not be a RCMP officer; many police pipe bands recruit civilian pipers.

You must have had a good vantage point to get such consistently good pics of the bands. Thanks, Cloves.
