1 week and $26 later
So, I found a nice 100% wool jacket at a thrift store, I said, wow for a dollar that will make a great kilt jacket!
well, I took it to the tailor that I have used for almost 15 years now and she said I think I can make something work. 1 week later I had a more formal jacket. she charged $25 for the work.
needless to say its amazing what she did to it.
now, this past week I have been away from home, actually at a college campus with my Marching Band for our "Band Camp" (yes yes, make the jokes you want to...) anyways, every year on last full night we are there they have a dance, just something to let us do so we don't kill each other. they tell us to dress nicely. I though what would possibly be nicer than a kilt?
I don't have a really high quality picture yet as it hasn't appeared on facebook and I haven't uploaded anything from my father's camera yet.
but here is my new jacket and everything, My friends and I were doing kareoke (sp?) to the song "I'm Gonna Be" (500 miles) by the Proclaimers

I promise I will get some better pics up later!

Lookin' good! You are looking very comfortable wearing the kilt these days.![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Your entire outfit looks great and your hair looks really good in this photo...you are really stylin' (as we used to say when I was in high school WAY BACK in 1992!)!
Have you made any kilt converts? Did you ever end up getting kilts for the trombone section?

yes yes, make the jokes you want to...
Unless you look like Allison Hannigan, I've got no joke to make...
The jacket looks fine, though it's a little tough to tell in the pic. And heck for $26 it's more than fine in just about any context without other kilties... know what I mean?

You DEFINITELY dressed up nicely - can't say the same about some of the others. Good on you for taking the time and trouble, you are an asset to thsi forum and an ambassador for kilt wearers everywhere.

Way Back? wow! I still don't feel like '72 was all that far back. My neighbor, who was in high school in '55, we both agree that is approaching way back. Guess it's all relative.
That is a great look for twenty six bucks. I am thrift store bound soon. Great inspiration.

That looks like a good conversion! And, as others have stated, for 26 bucks, you can't beat it! So, what tartan are you getting for your section? As a fellow t-bone player, I may have to order one to stay in "uniform"!!

Blackwatch- they all wanted something that wasn't loud and it is about as quiet as you can get other than a solid color.
