Kilted at a Conference
Headed home tomorrow after a week at the Southwestern School of Behavioral Health Conference at Loew's Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson.
Been busy and holed up here all week with fellow addictions counselors, here to learn the latest. Been coming here most every year for some time so lots of old friends and networking and new people to meet. Been kilted the whole time. Kept track of comments which, by now, are pretty routine.
I did meet both a man and a woman who had lived in Scotland and liked that I was kilted. I received MANY "I love a man in a kilt" comments from ladies. One lady asked me what I called the sporran, a "penis hider?" then when I told her it was a sporran she said "sperm?" A definate flirt still at age 68. But a lovely lady and an old friend being warm and friendly.
One guy asked me after three days why I wore a different tartan each day? Like I should only wear my one clan tartan. Explained I was descended from many clans and we could wear what we liked. He had a genuine curiosity and accepted that. (Wore my Gordon modern USA casual for the long drive down and my Macdonald, Army, Ireland's National, and MacLeod of Lewis USA Kilts semi-traditionals for each day's conference).
Another lady told me she liked the tartan kilts better than the plain colored kilts (utilikilts) I wore last year.
A Hispanic friend and I had a long talk about my dress code adventures at work and his similar adventures getting the traditional guayaberra (?)(a traditional lightweight shirt worn untucked) accepted for wear on the job.
Best part, my daughter and grandkids were able to visit this evening and we went out for dinner then "hiked" up to the waterfall behind the resort.
Got one pic of the MacLeod just as I was tucking in my shirt...oh well.

Yup, its hot and muggy out in Tucson tonight. Sorry no time to hook up with local kilties this trip. Lots of work.

I don't know why it is, but I just love that tartan.
Congrats on wearing the kilts to all the days of the conference. And congrats on being able to wear them back at work as well ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Thanks for an interesting report on your travels, Ron.
Yes kilts always go down well at conferences.
It was good that you also had an opportunity to meet up with your daughter and grandkids.

Despite what you hear about men being color blind and fashion unconcerned, I have to go out on a limb and say that the shirt, kilt, sandals in that photo are particularly well combined.
Good show.

I'll be in Tucson Saturday night on my way to El Paso on conferences, so I am glad to read this.
