How old are your kilts?
From the thread on How many kilts do you own:-
From looking at all these posts, I am content to know that the artform of the kilt will not vanish. Half of us have closets that are small museums~!
Rather than take that thread off topic I thought I'd ask separately how old your kilts are.
I got my first kilt in early 1990, at the age of 38. Over the years I have passed on to others kilts which no longer fit me and purchased new ones, so although at present I have 18 kilts with 2 on order, all except one of these has been acquired in the last five years.
All my kilts were new when bought by me except for the Freedom CADPAT which I bought second-hand from Riverkilt and which is also a young kilt.
So the only pre-millenium kilt which I still possess is my Cunningham tank, built in early 1994, which with some adjustment I can still get into for a special occasion.
How many members do actually own kilts which are already historic museum pieces?
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.

Well my first kilt was a Gunn Modern given me by my father it was his kilt when he was a scout in Scotland in the 1950's and was made by A&J Scott and co. Aberdeen in 1950 or there abouts, here is my dad wearing said kilt and scout uniform:

All my other kilts have been purchased in the past 5 or 6 years, most of those being purchased this year.

That's very cool. I have me Da's USN dress blues from when he first enlisted in 1943. He wasn't very big then. His own Dad did not know him when he got home, he had grown so much. I couldn't fit in it when I was 18, much less at 45.
I am impressed that you have a kilt that old with lineal family history. Waay cool !

I have my Grandfather's Kilt, made by Scotts of Aberdeen(1930s?). My father's was made by Chisholms of Inverness(1950s) and one I had made, also by Chisholms(1990s).Depending on how much exercise I have ---I wear them all, at various times. Thanks Dad and Grandad.I hasten to add that they are also, all of the same tartan.

My oldest is 34 years young - Gunn, ancient colours [Alex Scott of Aberdeen] whilst my two newest (Nos 82 & 83 in my Kilt Kollection) are completed but not yet in my hands. They are Country Tweed and Red Gordon [TFCK and Geoffrey (Tailor) of Edinburgh].
There would have been two older ones as I have been wearing the kilt for 57 years now, but I know not what happened to them. My mother disposed of them, as she did many of my clothes and possessions whilst I was in the army in the mid-1950s!
