I have one kilt in Lindsay tartan bought in November 1950 and, looking at the receipt which I found recently it cost £7:15/- plus purchase tax of £2:15/6d (£10.50 total in today's money or $21). It belonged to my father-in-law and at the same time he purchased a Montrose doublet costing just over £10 and full clan hose for £3.50. The sporran was £7.25 and a leather belt £3.75. If only they were still those prices.

My oldest is only about 12 years old. It's a tank from Edgar's in Modern Robertson hunting, and it's still probably my favorite because of the quality and, therefore, look.
My newest is also well loved because it's a Leatheneck tartan from SWK, and with the USMC buckle, well, even an old beat-up geezer can look pretty dashing when well turned out.
Then there's the weathered Robertson 5-yard, and the Gordon Military style from PG, and . . . well, I probably won't live long enough to catch Hamish--my hero--but I can try, can't I?

My oldest kilt, that I wear, is 22 years old. It's a MacMillan tank. I have an unknown age kilt that I think may be 80 plus years. But I can not be sure. I don't wear it, cause it itches, and I want to keep it from being damaged. The workmanship is superb. It is flat in a plastic box, with moth protection.
