I have found this to be the case. And I agree, it was a bit snug to get it through the first few weeks.

Thanks for the review! I need to actually write one some time, but you already did for my kilt!

Great Review. Thanks for sharing. I truly love my Thrifty SWK. I will definitely try a Standard the next time I buy one based off my recent experience with them as well as your good review.

And of course by now you all know that I am a total SWK Fan. I can't praise their products, their personal service, communication, and their swiftness (time warp) of delivery - highly enough. If I could afford it I'd have one of EVERYTHING they have. Yayy! Stillwater!

Since Mr. MacDougall didn't have any flix, and since I just got my new standard in Blackwatch, I thought I would add them to this review.

I should say that I have been very pleased with all my dealings with Jerry at SWK.

This shows the kilt right out of the box with the basting still in:

This shows the inside showing the liner

This shows the liner lifted revealing the back, inside.

The kilt has 32 pleats, just under 2" deep. Deep final left pleat and deep reverse right pleat. Nice buckles and leather. I found no problem getting the trap through the hole.

The flix have been lightened to help show some detail.

Thanks for the pictures! I was hoping that the standard was fully reversable because i love that feature with the thrifty, but oh well. I'll still get one anyways.

This shows another view of the back

Showing all pleats across - pleated to sett

showing that the pleats have about 1" overlap

    and about 2" deep

Front view with very handsome model.

Back view with same very handsome model.

The Captain Morgain pose, again with the very handsome model.

I hope this gives some visual aids to a SWK Standard

I have the Black Watch, but the Economy model. To me, it is worth the extra 10.00 for what you get over the Thrifty (straps/buckles, liner). Unfortunately, right after I got the kilt, I went on a diet/exercise program, and it doesn't fit anymore. I'm considering putting up for sale. It's been worn exactly once.

Mr. MacDougall, That was an excellent review, I received a SWK Standard in the Irish National tartan from my birthday a few weeks ago and while I did a little reveiw on it I cannot hold a candle to your review.

I have a question about Stillwater Kilts in general, How do you guys wash them?

I currently only have a UK, and I can machine wash that. I would love to have a thrifty SWK for casual wear, but would hate having to get it washed. Is it possible to wash the thrifty at home?

I've been looking into getting either a thrifty or a standard SWK. While it wouldn't seem to bad taking a standard to the dry cleaners or something, It just doesn't seem worth it for the thrifty. Do you guys hand wash your kilts or is there an easier way?
